# Discount Calculator

To use the discount calculator, you must first choose the type of discount. Then you have to enter the required data, e.g. price and amount of the discount. For different types of discounts, you have to fill in different fields. For example, for a percentage discount (% off), you must enter the price and value of the discount (in percent), and for a "3 for 2" type discount, you must enter the prices of three products. After entering all the data you will receive a result which will include how much you have to pay after the discount, how much you save, and how much the discount is actually (in percent).

This way you will know exactly how attractive the promotion is. It will make it easier for you to decide whether to make a purchase using this offer.

### Types of discounts and how to calculate them

Our calculator calculates the following types of discounts: percentage discount (% off), percentage discount on the second product (% off on 2nd product), percentage discount on the third product (% off on 3rd product), fixed discount amount, two for one (2 for 1), three for two (3 for 2), double percentage discount.
Below you will find information on how exactly these different types of discounts are calculated.

The percentage discount (% off) is probably the most common form of promotion in shops. Sellers offer a certain percentage discount value, e.g. 30%. The formula for calculating how much a product costs after a discount is as follows: `price * (1 - (discount / 100))`.
For example, a blouse costs `\$120` and is reduced by `40%`, `120 * (1 - (40 / 100)) = 48`. So we only pay `\$48` for a blouse.

The percentage discount on the second product (% off on 2nd product) is intended to encourage buyers to buy more products. A regular price must be paid for a more expensive product, while a discount is charged on the second (cheaper) product. For example, if you buy two pairs of shoes in a promotion where the second product is 30% cheaper, then if one pair costs \$100 and the other one costs \$120, you will pay a total of \$190. In fact we will pay 13.64% less for purchases.

The percentage discount on the third product (% off on 3rd product) is similar to the one above. To use it you need to buy three items and the discount will be calculated on the cheapest one.

The price discount (fixed amount off) consists of reducing the price of the product by a certain value. We can meet with a promotion where products from a particular department have a fixed price discount. For example, if a product costs `\$249.99`, and there is a `\$20` discount promotion, we will pay `\$249.99 - \$20 = \$129.99`, which is `8%` less.

Two for one discount (2 for 1) discount means that you pay for one product and the other (cheaper or the same price) is free. For example, if you buy two shampoos for \$5, you will pay \$5 instead of \$10. This means that the discount will be 50%.

The discount of three for two (3 for 2) is similar to the one above. I n this case, we have to pay for two out of three products. If we buy three bottles of shampoo that costs \$5 each, we will pay \$10 instead of \$15. The discount in this case will be 33.33%.

In online shops, you can find products that are discounted by e.g. 30%. If we have a discount code that reduces the price of the product by e.g. 20%, we can use it and buy the product even cheaper. Using a double discount does not mean that we will pay for it 50% cheaper, but by 44.00%.
